Clamshell Quilt with Jenny Haynes | Saturday 26th November

In this class our teacher, Jenny Haynes of Papper, Sax, Sten, will teach you how to cut, sew and press curves and get you well on your way to creating your own curvy Clamshell mini quilt by using her no-pin technique and custom Clamshell template.The template cost of £20 is included in the cost of the course. This gorgeous pattern is suitable for showing off your favourite fabrics and looks amazing in solids too!

All about your tutor: A Swedish exile having spent the previous 18 years in Hackney, London, Jenny Haynes (née Nilsson) studied Pattern Cutting and Tailoring in her native Stockholm. Soon after, she followed her passion for fabrics and moved to London to study Fashion and Textiles at the London College of Fashion. She went on to develop her own label 'Papper, Sax, Sten' (that's 'Paper, Scissors, Stone' if you're wondering!), creating designs that reflect her different influences.

Her bespoke quilts and furnishings are recognised for their clean and simple, mid-century modern design. Often mixing vintage fabrics with modern prints, rich colours with pastels, wool and silk with linen and cotton, while remaining faithful to her Scandinavian roots. This was recognised in Summer '15 when Jenny was invited by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce, along with 18 other Swedish designers, to be a part of Heal's Swedish Summer Exhibition. Fabric Requirements: 'Please bring 9 different coloured 8" squares plus 1 1/2 yard of background fabric. This quilt is also perfect for those larger (minimum 8" square) scraps or layer cakes.'

The class will run 10.00am - 5:00pm. Refreshments provided along with home made cakes. You will need to provide your own lunch. We will provide all the equipment required on the day, you just need to bring your own fabrics. Please let us know at time of booking if you are bringing your own machine. (You will need to bring the manual in case of trouble shooting!)
