Join our quilting tutor Charlotte in our very popular Free Motion Quilting class and learn the tips and techniques required to get you free motion quilting on your home sewing machine.
In the class you will cover the basics of FMQ from deciding how to quilt a full quilt and then learning lots of different quilting patterns. This is very much a student led class and Charlotte will help students individually with their specific requirements.
You will need to bring:
1. thread(s) - preferably cotton
2. small sharp scissors
3. hand sewing needle
4. spare sewing machine needles
5. plain paper for drawing and something to draw with
6. safety pins (or quilt basting pins)
7. plain fabric to practice quilting on
You also need to bring a free motion / darning foot for your machine and know how to fit it, if using your own machine in class
All wadding used in the class is included in your class fee as well as your tuition, use of all our equipment and refreshments. You will need to bring your own lunch or you can purchase something on the day from one of the local shops.Please bring along your own sewing machine if you have one. If you don’t it's not a problem as we have 6 sewing machines in our classroom that we can loan out but please let us know in advance if you need to use one of our machines. If you bring your own sewing machine please can we ask that you also bring along the manual. We do have some equipment in our classroom for you to use and before the class begins we will send you a pre-read which will include a list of everything you will need to bring with you.
